Dhaka police today suspended two sub-inspectors (SI) for torturing two officials in Mohammadpur and Jatrabari.
SI Arshadul Islam Akash of Jatrabari Police Station along with his subordinates yesterday beat up a staff of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in the area.

DSCC Conservancy Officer Bikash Chandra Das was critically injured in the attack when the latter was going to work around 4:15am, the victim's family alleged.
Earlier in the day, SI Masud Shikder of Mohammadpur Police Station, was suspended days after his torture on a Bangladesh Bank official on January 9 came to the limelight.

The reportedly notorious cop Masud tortured central bank official Golam Rabbi and asked Tk 5 lakh bribe threatening to frame him in a narcotics case otherwise.
The suspension will be effective immediately, Maruf Hossain Sordar, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told The Daily Star.

The suspended officer Masud also threatened to kill him in “a shootout”.

Media fired rapid reports on the development of the story and dug out Masud’s activities. He is said to have formed a notorious gang back in his hometown Mymensingh.
Hailing from Fulbaria, Masud joined the police force in 1997. He was promoted to a sub-inspector five years ago. He was closed from Mohammadpur Police Station following the incident.
Biplab Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner (Tejgaon division) of DMP, said on Jan 11 that considering the “seriousness of the allegations”, SI Masud was removed from his current workplace.

Now attached to the Tejgaon DC office, the SI will face action based on findings of their investigation, Biplab told a private television.
After the incident with bank official came to limelight, social media platforms went haywire with criticisms and demand for his suspension.
Meanwhile, Rabbi yesterday allegedly received "indirect threats" to refrain from seeking legal actions against his torturers. Two men went to visit him at the hospital and threatened him there.
The police headquarters yesterday formed a three-member committee to investigate the alleged police assault on Rabbi and a Dhaka South City Corporation official by police.
