Sultan-uz Zaman's death anniversary today
Today is the third death anniversary of Sultan-uz Zaman Khan, a noted bureaucrat. He entered the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1955. Over an illustrious career spanning more than 30 years, he was the district commissioner of Jessore and commissioner of Khulna division in 1970.
After the liberation of Bangladesh, he had served as secretary of shipping, inland waterways and aviation in 1973.
He also served the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) as its senior official in Bangkok from 1977 to 1992. He was the first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Bangladesh during 1993-1996.
