Students lock Carmichael College buildings
Students of Carmichael College Rangpur yesterday locked the administrative and academic buildings protesting the ongoing agitation by teachers, officials and staff demanding removal of its principal.
“We have closed the buildings. We want a solution to the current crisis”, said Shahiduzzaman Ceaser, a master's student at the college.
He said a discomfort is prevailing on the campus due to the teachers' agitation.
However, Aktaruzzaman Chowdhury, general secretary of the Teachers Welfare Association, said there has been no disruption in academic activities.
Teachers, officials and staff of the college started a strike on February 10 demanding removal of the principal Dr Abdul Latif, accusing him of corruption and misuse of power.
Later, a three-member probe body was formed by the education ministry on February 15 to investigate the allegation.
The report was submitted on February 25.
