Female student presses assault charges against BCL president

A female student of Mirpur Bangla College yesterday filed a case against the president of the college unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for hacking her in the right arm on Friday.

According to the case statement, Shuvra Mahmud, a second-year English student, was standing on a footpath near Mirpur Eye Hospital around 7:00pm when Mujibur Rahman Anik with his two associates arrived on a motorbike. Anik suddenly hacked her and they sped away.

Shuvra did not mention any reason behind the attack, said police. She took primary treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ohidul Islam of Mirpur Police Station said some two weeks ago, Shuvra filed a general diary against some of Anik's associates for stalking her.

The Daily Star could not contact Anik for his comment. Police are trying to nab the accused.
