Show cause notice served on Ctg clinic
The director (health) of Chittagong Division yesterday served a show-cause notice on the authorities of a Chittagong clinic asking them to explain within 10 days why a baby girl was exchanged with the body of a baby boy there.
Dr AM Mozibul Hoque, director of Chittagong divisional health office, issued the notice after the probe body formed to further investigate the incident completed its investigation.
Earlier, a three-member probe body headed by Dr Asim Kumar Nath, superintendent of General Hospital, Chittagong, submitted a report to the director on Monday.
But the official asked for further investigation as journalists during a press conference at his office on Tuesday raised questions regarding various loopholes in the probe.
Asked, Mozibul said they collected the death certificate and other related documents and found “mistakes”.
“They [clinic authorities] cannot avert their responsibility… that's why we issued the show-cause notice...”
Meanwhile, the family members of the baby girl termed the investigation a “farce”.
Alamgir Hossain Hero, a paternal uncle of the girl, alleged, “They are trying to save the doctors and clinic authorities.”
On April 17, the private clinic -- Child Care Hospital -- exchanged Rokhsana Akhter's baby girl with the body of a baby boy.
