Seven DMP OCs transferred

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has transferred seven officers-in-charge yesterday.

A circular issued by the DMP headquarters said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sabujbagh Police Station, has been transferred to Rampura Police Station.

Bangshal OC Abdul Quddus Fakir and Wari OC Tapan Chandra Saha have been transferred to Sabujbagh and Sutrapur police stations.

Inspector Nure Alam Siddiqui of the prosecution department and DB Inspector (Uttara) Zehad Hossain have been made officers-in-charge of Bangshal and Wari police stations respectively.

Rampura OC Mahbubur Rahman Tarafdar and Sutrapur OC Khalilur Rahman Patwari have been transferred to the Detective Branch (West), the circular added.

Muntasirul Islam, deputy commissioner (media) of the DMP, said the transfers were regular changes and nothing out of the ordinary.

However, the transfers come after a recent spat of violence and high-profile murders, including the improvised grenade attack at Hossaini Dalan, the killing of an Italian citizen in Gulshan, murder of an assistant sub inspector in Gabtoli and attacks on two publishers which left one killed.
