SC gives govt 7 days to finalise rules following its guidelines
The Supreme Court yesterday gave seven days' time to the government to finalise the rules determining the discipline of lower court judges in line with its guidelines.
The SC also ordered for issuing a gazette notification after finalising the rules and submitting that to it in a week.
An eight-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order during hearing the Masdar Hossain case, known as judiciary separation case.
During hearing, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam submitted a petition seeking the one week's time for the government.
Earlier, the government framed the rules according to the SC order made several times. Later, the apex court corrected the rules in line with its guidelines in the Masdar Hossain case verdict.
