SC clears way for trying Redwan
The Supreme Court yesterday upheld a High Court verdict that cleared the way for a corruption case against former BNP state minister for liberation war affairs Redwan Ahmed dismissing an appeal filed by him challenging the HC judgment.
Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said the trial proceedings had been adjourned since Redwan, now a presidium member of National Democratic Party, filed the appeal.
Freedom fighter Nurul Islam filed the case with Ramna police on February 15, 2007, accusing Redwan of misappropriating Tk 50 lakh from the fund of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad during his tenure as state minister.
The ACC took the case and submitted a charge sheet to a special court in 2008.
