Road crashes kill three, injure two

Two people were killed and two others injured as two motorbikes collided head-on on Pirojpur-Nazirpur road in Pirojpur Sadar yesterday.

The deceased -- Kayum Fakir, 25, of Kawlakhali village and Sumon Khan, 24, of Khalbuniya village -- were riding the same motorcycle.

Witnesses said the incident occurred as the motorcycle that Kayum and Sumon were riding collided with the other one of the injured after it got on the road from a side road. Kayum died on the spot while Sumon died at Pirojpur Sadar Hospital.

In Chittagong, Suman Roy, 26, of Nilphamari was killed as a pickup van hit a covered-van from behind on Chittagong-Dhaka Highway in Shuklal Hat area of Sitakunda upazila yesterday.

Suman, who was the passenger of the pickup van, died on the spot, said police.
