Road crashes kill nine
Nine people were killed and 15 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday and Friday.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, Abdul Mazid, 35, of Panchagarh, and Irfan Ali, 40, of Dinajpur, were killed when an oncoming stone-laden truck hit their motorbike on Panchagarh-Banglabandha highway at Heliport in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, three unidentified bus passengers were killed and 15 others injured when the vehicle collided head-on with a truck at Ratnadighi in Nawabganj upazila yesterday.
A Comilla correspondent adds, two pedestrians were killed when a truck after losing its control hit them and plunged into a pond near Raypur bus stand on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi area yesterday.
The dead were Md Selim, 66, former UP member, and his son Sarwar, 25, of Raypur bus stand area.
Our Benapole correspondent adds, Chanchal Hossain, 25, son of Sahidul Islam of Baropota village, died as his motorbike veered out of control and hit a tree on by-pass road in Benapole port area yesterday.
Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, Sadia Khatun, 7, daughter of Abdul Alim of Chandura village in Nandail, died as a truck ran her over at Goshai Chandura on Chandura-Mymensingh road in Nandail upazila yesterday.
