Road crashes kill five in Thakurgaon, Panchagarh
A woman and her one-and-half-year-old son were killed and her husband was injured as a truck hit their motorcycle from behind on Panchagarh-Tentulia highway at Dashmile Bazar in Panchagarh Sadar on Monday night.
The deceased were Joyonti Rani, 28, wife of Sitendranath Barman of Puthimari village of the district and her son Narayan.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhajanpur Highway Police Station Enamul Haque said the accident occurred when Sitendranath was returning home with his wife and son on the motorcycle. Joyonti and Narayan died on the spot.
Critically injured Sitendranath is undergoing treatment at Panchagarh Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile in Thakurgaon, three people were killed and five others injured as a human-hauler hit a roadside tree after its front wheel got punctured in Amgaon village under Haripur upazila yesterday.
The deceased were Idris Ali, 70, of Moshaldangi village, Bablu, 45, and Erfan Ali, 60, of Medenisagor village in the upazila.
Police said Idris and Bablu died on the spot while five others injured seriously when the accident took place.
Locals rushed the injured to Ranishankoil Upazila Health Complex. Later, Erfan died on the way to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
