Road crashes kill 6
A minor school student died after a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit her in Indilpur Bazaar area of Shreebordi upazila yesterday, a correspondent from Sherpur reports.
Juthi Akhter, daughter of Md Jamor Uddin and a third-grader of Indilpur Government Primary School, was declared dead at Sherpur Sadar Hospital.
She was going to school, said the family.
Angered by the accident, locals blocked Sherpur-Shreebordi road for about an hour demanding exemplary punishment for the driver, who managed to escape.
Md S Alam, officer-in-charge of Shreebordi Police Station, said they seized the vehicle.
Our Benapole correspondent reports, two people were killed and three others injured as a bus crashed into a human hauler in Barobazar area of Sadar upazila in Jessore yesterday, said police.
The deceased were Abdur Rahim Baksh, 55, of Jhenidah; and Rabiul Islam Robi, 30, of Jessore. The injured were admitted to a hospital.
UNB from Khulna reports, two people, including a woman, were killed and 20 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Zeropoint area of city yesterday.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
The driver lost control over the steering, leaving the two dead on the spot and 20 others injured, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Harintana Police Station.
The injured were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Our Natore correspondent adds, an elderly woman died on the spot as a truck ran her over from behind while she was crossing Natore-Pabna highway in Bodhra area of Baraigram upazila on Friday.
The deceased was Jahera Begum, 70, wife of Abdul Jabbar of the Belgasi village in Lalpur upazila.
