Road crashes kill 3, hurt 16
Three people were killed and 16 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
In Natore, Rezaul Karim, 50, of Karachmaria village was killed and his daughter injured when a pickup van hit his motorcycle in Chaugram Bus Stand area in Singra upazila.
In Chapainawabganj Sadar, Nazrul Islam, 45, of Sundorpur village was killed as a truck hit his bicycle on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid land port highway at Baroghoria.
In Munshiganj, Ria Begum, 30, was killed as a bus ran her over when she fell on the road after the bus driver hit the rickshaw carrying her on Dhaka-Mawa highway at Kumarbhogh in Louhajong upazila.
Following the incident locals blocked the highway. They also assaulted Officer-in-Charge of Louhajong Police Station Molla Zakir Hosen as he chased them to stop blocking the highway. Later, following a discussion with ASP Md Samsuzzaman, locals withdrew their blockade after an hour.
In Jhenidah Sadar, 15 people were injured when a bus hit a truck while it was parking without signaling on Dhaka-Khulna highway near Nimtala bus stand in Kaliganj upazila.
