Road accidents take six lives
Six people were killed and 16 others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Jhenidah, three persons were killed and six others injured as a bus hit a human haulier from behind at Sadhuhati Bàzar in Sadar upazila, said police.
The deceased are Shahidul Islam, 38, Latif, 50, and Raihan Uddin, 60. Of them, Shahidul was the human haulier driver.
The injured were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, an unidentified youth died after a covered van flipped over on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai upazila.
In Sirajganj, Bishu Prang, 35, a helper of a bus driver, was killed and 10 others were injured when the bus hit an electric pole in Vodraghat area of Kamarkhand upazila, said police.
In Mymensingh, second-grader Tanni, 9, daughter of Monsur Ali, was killed as a truck ran her over while she was crossing Mymensingh-Netrakona road in Modarpur area of Sadar upazila.
