Road Accidents: Seven killed, seven hurt in three districts
As reckless driving and violation of traffic rules continued, seven people were killed and seven others injured in five road accidents in three districts on Wednesday and yesterday.
In Sunamganj, two pedestrians were killed and seven passengers of a minibus injured as it plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting them on Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Nilpur area of Sadar upazila yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased are Amina Begum, 60, of Bahadurpur village; and Badrul, son of Abdur Rahman of Tajpur village in Laxmansri union of the upazila, said police.
They were rushed to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Amina dead.
Badrul succumbed to his injuries after two hours.
In Rangpur, two motorcyclists were killed after a covered van hit their motorbike on Rangpur-Bogra highway in Jaigirhat area of Mithapukur upazila on Wednesday evening, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.
Taz Mia, 40, hailed from Chapabari village and Sazu Mia, 42, from Gurzipara village in the upazila.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, a truck fatally ran a man over while he was crossing a road in front of the city's Chittagong College yesterday.
Atol Talukder, 32, was a resident of Patiya upazila, said police.
Meanwhile, one Elahi Box, 55, was killed as a microbus hit him while he was crossing Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda yesterday.
In another incident, rickshaw-van puller Dulal, 35, from Karnaphuli Residential area in the city, died when a bus him while he was crossing Foujdarhat bypass road in Chittagong on Wednesday night.
