Road accidents kill 3
At least three persons were killed and 11 others injured in road accidents across the country yesterday.
In Narayanganj, businessman, Shah Alam, 40, died after a three-wheeler collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Araihazar road in Araihazar upazila, police said. He was declared dead at a nearby health centre.
In Faridpur, college student Akash Sordar, 20, died after an easy bike ran him over in Alipur area, reports our local correspondent. Akash was taken to a local hospital where he died.
In Madaripur, truck driver Saidul Fakir, 38, died after the truck skidded off the road and hit a roadside tree in Noyakandi area. Saidul and helper Somad Fakir were taken to a local hospital where the doctors declared Saidul dead.
In Patuakhali, 10 persons were injured when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a motorbike in Jouta Bazaar area in Dashmina upazila, police said. The injured were sent to different hospitals.
Meanwhile, hundreds of vehicles remained stuck on a 15km tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway from Meghna Bridge to Daudkandi, reports our Comilla correspondent.
The authorities are blaming a huge flow of vehicles on the highway for the tailback.
