Rizvi released from jail on bail
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed was released from jail yesterday on bail.
The BNP leader walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 around 5:07pm after his release order had reached the jail authorities, said jailer Nashir Ahmed.
Rizvi's family members, including his wife, and some BNP leaders and activists received him at the jail gate, said our Gazipur correspondent.
Rizvi, soon after his release, told reporters that he was going to his residence in the capital's Shaymoli for taking rest.
Earlier on Sunday, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court order that granted him bail in an arson case filed on January 28, 2015.
The case was filed against some BNP leaders, including Rizvi, for torching a bus in the capital's Matsya Bhaban area that killed a policeman.
On August 18 this year, Rizvi surrendered before a Dhaka court and the court sent him to jail after rejecting his bail petitions in the case.
Earlier, he secured bail in other cases filed against him.
