Resolve dispute over Muhurir Char soon
Bangladesh has urged India for speedy signing of the strip map of Muhurir Char to fully implement the long-festering land boundary problem.
At the two-day 18th home secretary-level meeting, Bangladesh also requested allowing its travellers to use any Indian air and land ports for entry into and exit from India.
The meeting ended in New Delhi on Tuesday, said a statement of Bangladeshi High Commission there yesterday.
The Bangladesh side was led by Home Secretary Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan while his Indian counterpart Rajiv Mehrishi led his country's team.
Although the two countries implemented the land boundary agreement in August last year, Muhurir Char remained unsettled after India had reportedly raised some issues regarding a fresh survey of the area.
The law and order along Indo-Bangla border, cross-border smuggling, especially of drugs and handing of wanted criminals dominated the talks.
