Qawmi board demands govt recognition
A Qawmi madrasa board committee yesterday at a press conference demanded that the government recognise certificates the board issues.
The committee's Member Secretary Allama Yahya Mahmud claimed that the recognition would help some 20 lakh students under Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh get better religion-centric jobs, says a press release.
The Befaqul and some other boards run Qawmi madrasas, which along with Alia madrasas exist in the country. Qawmi madrasas follow the syllabus of Darul Uloom Deoband, an Islamic school in India. Graduates mainly work as imams.
