Prof Moqsud Ali's death anniversary today
Today is the 4th death anniversary of eminent educationist Professor Syed Moqsud Ali.
He was chairman of the department of political science and of public administration at Dhaka University (DU). He was also dean of the social science faculty of DU.
Born in 1925, Professor Ali was involved in the socio-political and cultural activities since he was a student of DU. He was the literary editor of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) in 1949. For his contribution to the field of political science, he was awarded Sher-e-Bangla Gold Medal in 1996.
Some of his important works include “Rashtrobiggyan” (Bangla Academy, 1966); Plato'r Republic (Translation, Bangla Academy, 1973); Forashi Biplobuttor Rashtrochinta (DU, 1990); Rajniti O Rashtrochintaye Upomohadesh (Bangla Academy, 1988); Markin Shorkarer Ruuprekha (Translation, Ahmed Publishing, Dhaka 1985); and Shaatpurusher Itikotha, an academic's autobiographical narrative.
Some of his short stories include “Nil Paharer Chura” and “Kajolbanu”.
“Aladdin er Cherag” written by him earned him the best radio play award in 1949.
Prof Ali moulded a generation of students who subsequently became illustrious figures in the country.
On the occasion, a doa mahfil will be held at his residence in Gulshan.
