Probe report submitted
A probe body formed to investigate into pronouncing a newborn baby dead at a private hospital in the port city on Tuesday even though it was alive submitted its report yesterday.
Chittagong civil surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddique said after receiving the report it was sent to the director (admin) of the health directorate as per order of the director general. “I do not know what the report suggested as we did not have permission to open it,” he said.
On October 4, the newborn girl was pronounced dead at Centre for Specialised Care and Research (CSCR) but she was found to be alive. The doctors had even issued a death certificate.
The baby's parents, both of whom were doctors, accused the doctors and staff at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of CSCR of negligence of duty.
