PM urges diploma engineers to use project money properly
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged all concerned, including diploma engineers, to ensure proper utilisation of the money allocated for development projects.
She was addressing the inaugural function of the 21st National Convention and 39th Council of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
She said the diploma engineers implement almost 80-85 percent of the government's development works.
Hasina said the government decided to establish 25 more polytechnic institutes, including four for women, and set up one technical school in every upazila, adding that a project involving Tk 2,900 crore already began to get one lakh more students under the public polytechnic institutes by 2019.
The premier said SSC vocational course has been introduced for the first time in about 1,800 private high schools. The government will soon give the diploma engineers a special increment, she added.
