People's court will be formed if corruption continues
A people's court will be formed if corruption keeps on taking place in sectors related to natural resources, said Prof Anu Muhammad, member secretary of National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports, yesterday.“If incidents like Barapukuria [power plant] continues, the national committee and people from different quarters of the society will form a Gono Adalat,” he warned.
Perpetrators involved in such corruption go unpunished due to the government's negligence, he alleged.
Prof Anu was speaking at a programme at Mukti Bhaban in Dhaka, marking the 87th birthday of Engineer Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah, convener of the committee. Publication house Biplobider Kotha organised the event.
Prof Anu said Shahidullah's revolutionary spirit would inspire the new generation to work for a better future.
Born on July 31, 1931 in Khulna, Shahidullah founded the national committee in 1998.
