Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla today said he is amazed by the participation of people from all faiths in the Durga Puja celebration, the largest Hindu religious festival of the country.

"All people in Bangladesh participate in Durga Puja. This is something amazing," he said in a note of appreciation for the harmonious living of people of different faiths in Bangladesh.

The ambassador referred to Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's frequent quote that "Religion is personal, but festivals are for all".

Shringla made the remarks while addressing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) and Diabetes Awareness & YOU of Kolkata for Diabetes Education Programme at Birdem Hospital in Dhaka.

He thanked the Indian delegation of medics who came to attend the ceremony leaving their families at home during the festival season.
