Obituary
Ashfaque Ahmed, a former top official of IDLC, died at the capital's United Hospital yesterday, aged 50, says a press release.
He left behind his wife Barrister Nihad Kabir, deputy managing director of the daily Sangbad, a brother and a sister.
Ashfaque's father Nuruddin Ahmed was the president of FBCCI, DCCI and Dhaka Club.
He was the son-in-law of late Ahmedul Kabir, chief editor of the Sangbad.
Speaker of the Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq expressed their profound shock at his death. Ashfaque will be buried at Banani graveyard in the capital today after a namaz-e-janaza at Banani Jame Mosque after Asr prayers.
