Now shopping malls will be strictly monitored

Says Ctg DC

The shopping malls of Chittagong city will be brought under strict monitoring now so that consumers are not harassed or charged excessive prices, said Chittagong Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mesbah Uddin yesterday at a meeting.

The DC was speaking at a views-exchange meeting with the representatives of associations of different shopping malls and cloth traders at his conference room.

With an aim to keep the price of textiles normal and stable round the clock including the month of Ramadan, Chittagong District Administration (CDA) organised the meeting where representatives of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) were also present.

“A few unscrupulous traders make excessive profit,” said the DC, adding, “We cannot give them such opportunity.”

The DC said if asked, the traders have to show their purchasing and selling prices to the monitoring team. “Our teams will go to the malls and strictly monitor those,” he said.

He also urged the business leaders to keep complaint boxes at the markets for the customers and urged the staff to not to misbehave with women.
