Non-MPO teachers, staff to start fast unto death today
Teachers and employees of non-MPO (monthly payment order) educational institutions will start a fast unto death today to press home their demand to bring them under MPO.
Non-MPO Educational Institutions' Teachers Employees Federation announced the programme at a sit-in before Jatiya Press Club in the capital yesterday.
Principal Tapash Kumer Kundu, general secretary of the federation, said, "A six-member team met with the education secretary this afternoon in this regard. As we were not able to reach a fruitful conclusion, we decided to go for a hunger strike from 10 in the morning."
Earlier, some 700 hundred agitating teachers of schools, colleges and madrasas from across the country participated in the sit-in organised for the fourth consecutive day.
Their demands include bringing all education institutions under MPO, and measuring their service period from the date of recruitment.
