No headway in Ctg student murder case after four days
Four days into the killing of Munni Akhter, a private university student in Chittagong, police are yet to find any clue.
On Saturday afternoon, police recovered the blood-stained body of an unidentified woman from Sitakunda Eco Park and Botanical Garden.
Being informed, Hasna Ara Begum identified the body as her daughter at the morgue on Sunday, said police.
Hailing from Gobindarkhil area in Patiya upazila, Munni, 25, was a student of computer science of Chittagong Port City International University.
Locals found the body and informed police, said Sub-inspector Sujoy Kumer Majumder of Sitakunda Police Station, also the complainant of the murder case.
Investigation Officer SA Kamal said primarily they are suspecting that the incident might be related to a love affair or land related dispute.
“We are examining all the clues, investigating her call list…after getting an autopsy report we can be sure whether she was raped before the killing,” he said.
Meanwhile, Munni's mother Hasna claimed her daughter was killed in a planned way. She said some men disturbed Munni's younger sister over phone and they also had land related dispute with some neighbours.
She was staying at her aunt's place in Baklia area for five years to continue her study and recently stated working part time at a private company in Bandar Tila for bearing some of the cost, said police sources.
She went missing from Friday afternoon, said Hasna.
“Checking the university attendance register we came to know she was at the university till 12:00 noon on Friday,” said the IO.
The body bore several injury marks of sharp weapons on head, neck and ears, he said, adding, a murder case was filed on Saturday.
Police suspected she was killed on a hillock of the botanical garden, later the body was thrown some 25 feet below.
