N'ganj clinic ransacked over child's death

Relatives ransacked a hospital in Narayanganj after a three-month-old baby girl died right there on Saturday night.

They also beat up seven hospital staff, including Manager Jannatul Ferdous.

Sajida was admitted to Faisal Hospital in Araihazar with cold related ailments on Friday evening.

Sheuli Begum, the mother, alleged that instead of a nurse an aya gave her child a fatal overdose injection. Sajida died soon after being injected, she said.

Manager Jannatul Ferdous told reporters that their ayas were instructed to do the works done by nurses as they were experienced enough.

When asked, Araihazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Sakhawat Hossain said the reason behind the child's death could not be ascertained immediately. Filing of a case was underway till last evening, he said.

On information from the hospital staff, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
