Youths should contribute to achieve SDGs: speakers

Speakers urged youths to contribute to national efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscoring the need for concerted efforts of all government and non-government organisations to make young people skilled human resources.

They mentioned that attention should be given to train youths for promoting universal human rights, existing national laws of the country, and prevention of cyber and international crimes.

They spoke at a daylong divisional training workshop on implementation of youth development programmes organised by Department of Youth Development (DYD) at Postal Academy Auditorium in Rajshahi on Thursday.

Chaired by DYD Deputy Director Matiur Rahman, the event was also addressed by another of its deputy director, Atiqur Rahman, and Assistant Deputy Director Atikuzzaman Khan.

Over 120 people, including eight DYD deputy directors and 92 youth organisers, from all districts of Rajshahi division took part in the workshop.

Speakers said the country needs more skilled human resources as the government focuses on skill-based education.
