Youth stabbed to death in Mohakhali
A youth was stabbed to death in the capital's Mohakhali on Friday night.
The deceased is Rafi Ahmed Shipu (22), a resident of Wireless area.
The incident took place around 9pm in front of "Mohakhali Amtali XI Club" while Shipu and two of his friends were chit-chatting.
Mosabbir Islam Abir, a friend of Shipu, said a local youth named Ananta came and threatened Shipu. Suddenly, he stabbed Shipu, said a witness, wishing not to be named.
Shipu was taken to Metropolitan Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased's uncle Ali Azgar Khan said Shipu used to look after his father's grocery shop in Mohakhali.
The victim's father filed a murder case against Ananta, aged around 23, with Banani Police Station. Police said they are yet to find any motive behind the killing.
Sub-inspector Ahsan Habib of Banani Police Station, who is investigating the case, said the victim and the accused reside in the same locality and drive is going on to arrest the accused.
Shipu's body was taken to a local mosque yesterday afternoon.
Protesting his death, locals in the area demonstrated and sought immediate punishment for the killer.
His mother Rina Begum said, "My son was killed for refusing to pay extortion money. I want justice for my son."
