Yaba peddler held from Barishal doctors’ dorm
Law enforcers conducted a drive at FM Nur-Ur-Rafi Doctors’ Hostel of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) yesterday afternoon and arrested an outsider in possession of drugs.
The arrestee, Md Rifat, took shelter in room 303 of the intern doctors’ hostel. Police sources said that they conducted drive based on a tip-off. They recovered 500 pieces of yaba, a knife, an iron pipe and a hammer, Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) sources said.
“Authorities informed us about the drug peddling operation which has been running for a long time,” said Mohammad Rasel, assistant commissioner of BMP.
Bakir Hossain, director of SBMCH told the Daily Star, “No outsiders will be allowed to stay in the dormitory. We will take action against those who don’t have permission to stay here.”
