Work for stronger community policing
Strengthening community policing activities could effectively eliminate crimes like drug abuse, terrorism, dowry, child marriage, and violence against children and women.
Law enforcers and community leaders said this at an event titled “Bit Policing and Community Policing Meeting” held at Dewantuli Government Primary School in Rangpur city on Thursday.
Mahiganj Police Station and Dewantuli Bit Policing Committee jointly organised the meeting for community policing supporters, teachers, students and youths, among others.
With local community leader Abdul Matin in the chair, Dewantuli Government Primary School headteacher Mosammat Rabeya Khatun attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Officer-in-Charge of Mahiganj Police Station Akhteruzzaman Prodhan, Inspector (investigation) Shah Alam Sarder, local leaders and social workers addressed the meeting as special guests.
The speakers gave special importance on strengthening community policing activities through enhancing interaction, mutual confidence and understanding between police and people.
Inspector Sarder said citizens should assist police to prevent crimes for building a sustainable and peaceful society.
The chief guest urged community policing committees to involve more people and extend full cooperation to the law enforcers.
