Woman found dead in Ashulia

Police recovered the body of a woman from a house in Ashulia’s Gazirchat area yesterday.

The deceased, Sheuly Akter, 25, was three months pregnant, said family members.

She and her husband Saiful Islam, 32, rented a room in the house around three months ago, said police, quoting locals. Saiful is an RMG worker.

Nurul Huda, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station, said they recovered the body around 11am and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. In the morning, a neighbour noticed a burning smell coming from the room. When she entered, she found Sheuly’s body on the bed and some burnt cloths on the floor, said the SI. “We are investigating the matter,” he added. Rejaul Haque Dipu, officer-in-charge of the police station, said they are looking for the husband, who is on the run.
