Uber partners with Brac to train drivers
Uber, the world’s largest ride-sharing company, has partnered with Brac to organise educational workshops on road safety for driver partners in Dhaka.
This initiative is part of the recently launched road safety campaign by Uber in Bangladesh, that reiterates the company’s commitment “Safety at Heart,” said a press release yesterday.
The objective of the workshops is to create awareness among driver partners that will ultimately improve road safety standards.
Through these workshops, Brac will impart a structured and institutional training aimed at sensitising driver partners.
This will include modules on road safety knowledge, civic responsibility, traffic signs and signals, lane discipline and driving, and do’s and don’ts of road safety regulations.
“At Uber, we are committed to constantly evolving and solving riders’ and driver partners’ safety concerns,” said Quazi Zulquarnain, country lead at Uber Bangladesh.
“Our partnership with Brac Road Safety Programme is an effective way of sensitising driver partners on the traffic system, thereby ensuring a better and safer experience for everyone,” he said.
Kamran Ul Baset, head of Brac Road Safety Programme, said, “Safety and security on roads has been a prime concern in Bangladesh for quite some time and it’s great to see that ride-sharing companies like Uber are coming forward to arrange short training for their driver partners.”
