UAE ready to bolster bilateral ties with Bangladesh: Envoy
UAE is ready to invest in different sectors in Bangladesh and desires to take the bilateral ties with Bangladesh to a new height in the years to come.
Ambassador of the UAE to Bangladesh Saed-Mohammed Al-Mheiri stated this while addressing a seminar on “Business Conference and Networking Session” held at Hotel Sarina in the capital on Thursday evening.
He also said the two countries are working closely in different international and regional areas, and the UAE always give priority to Bangladesh. “The time-tested friendship between our two countries is always of great importance and value to us”.
UAE Embassy in Bangladesh organised the event, which was hosted by UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited (UBICO), said a press release.
The Ambassador in his speech said two-way trade has significantly increased in recent years and reached more than $1 billion in last year. “We would like to extend our hands to businessmen of both the countries in order to increase the business volume and change the fate of the people of this region.”
Ambassador Al- Mheiri also said that they would like to discuss business potentials, problems and assistance that Bangladesh needs. “We are here to provide you with necessary support for exploring future prospects and cooperation. We expect new ideas and propositions from you that will benefit both the countries,” her added.
The ambassador emphasised the need for removing obstacles to smooth trade and investment, to ensure an attractive business environment and strengthening economic relations with the UAE.
He further said Bangladesh has set an example in the world by providing shelter for Rohinyga Muslims in Bangladesh. The UAE is playing an effective role in supporting forcibly-displaced Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, as part of its efforts to promote international peace and security and improve living standards of people.
First Secretary of the UAE Embassy in Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Hmoudi, and MD of UBICO Dr Shah Nawaz Akbar also spoke on the occasion.
