Two witnesses testify in Abrar murder case
Two witnesses yesterday gave judicial statements before a magistrate, in connection with the murder case of Abrar Fahad.
The witnesses are -- Zahid Hassan Jonny, a canteen boy, and Md Mostafa, a security guard of Sher-e-Bangla Hall at Buet.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary recorded their statements after Detective Branch Inspector Md Wahiduzzaman, also the investigation officer of the case, brought them at his chamber.
However, details of their statements could not be known immediately. After recording their statements, the magistrate allowed them to return to their work.
Abrar, a second-year student of Buet’s electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death by a group of BCL men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on early October 7.
Later, his father filed a murder case against 19 Buet students, mostly BCL leaders of the Buet unit, and several others unnamed with Chawkbazar Police Station.
Detectives have already arrested 20 people, including 16 FIR-named accused, in connection with the murder.
Seven of the accused have already given confessional statements in the case.
