Two killed in road accident
Two persons were killed in road accidents in Gazipur and Bogura districts yesterday.
In Bogura, a schoolboy was killed and his friend injured in an accident at Mominpur Tilabari area under Sherpur upazila, BSS reports.
The deceased was identified as Parvej, 12, son of Shah Alam, a resident of Mohipur village in the upazila.
The accident took place in the afternoon while Parvej was learning to ride a motorbike.
“The bike skidded off the road and fell into a ditch, police said adding, the boy died on the spot and his co-rider suffered injuries.
Meanwhile in Gazipur, a police constable died after a pickup ran over him in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, reports our correspondent.
Police primarily identified the victim as Nazrul Islam, 51, a member of special branch (SB) of police in Naogaon.
The accident took place in front of Mawna highway police box when Nazrul was crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, said Hari Das, a sub-inspector of Mawna Highway Police Station.
He was taken to a local clinic where he was declared dead on arrival. Police detained the pickup van driver Jalil Hasan, 30, and seized the vehicle.
