Two killed, four injured as bus hits auto-rickshaw in Narayanganj
Two persons were killed and four others were injured when a bus hit an auto-rickshaw at Pagla, under Fatullah Model Police Station area, in Narayanganj yesterday at around 11am.
The deceased were identified as Awal Miah, 50, a resident of Munshiganj district and Ali Hossain, 48, a resident of Narayanganj district.
A Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Anando Paribahan hit a battery-run auto rickshaw, leaving the duo dead on the spot and four others injured, who are now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, said Moinul Hossain, sub-inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station.
After the accident, law enforcers seized the bus and arrested the driver, said the police officer.
Meanwhile, a seven-year-old was killed on Cumilla-Sylhet highway under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila around 12:45pm yesterday, after a Brahmanbaria-bound local Diganto bus hit him from behind while crossing the road. He died on the spot. The highway police, on receiving the news, rushed to the spot and recovered the body, but couldn't detain the killer bus and its driver, said Md. Moniruzzaman, Sub-inspector of Sarail Bishwaroad Highway Police Station.
In Chattogram, a man was killed after being hit by a city bus while crossing the road in front of Osmania Glass Factory under Chandgaon Police Station area on Tuesday. He was identified as Hanif Sheikh, 28. Quoting locals, Assistant Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukdar said, locals rescued the victim and sent him to CMCH at around 12am where doctors declared him dead.
In another accident, a man was killed and four others were injured after a battery-run easy-bike driver lost the vehicle's control and fell into a road-side ditch in Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nirod Chandra Dey, 62.
Quoting locals, AKM Azmol Huda, officer-in-charge of Baliakandi Police Station said, “Nirod died on the sport and the injured were taken to Baliakandi Upazila Health Complex.”
