Two arrestees confess at court
Two arrestees yesteraday gave confessional statements before a court in connection with the murder of Mohidul Islam, 27, in Khulna city.
The arrestees are Md Sagar, 19, and Md Ashik, 19, both hailing from the city.
Metropolitan Magistrate Atikus Samad recorded the statements.
On Wednesday night, Mohidul’s brother Shohidul Islam filed a murder case with Sonadanga Police Station, accusing four men. Police arrested Sagar and Ashik the same night.
Suman and Masum, two of the main accussed, are still on the run.
Sukant Das, sub-inspector of Sonadanga Police Station and investigating officer (IO) of the case, said Mohidul’s group had previously beaten up Sumon and Masum’s associates for establishing supremacy in the area.
In retaliation, on Tuesday afternoon, when Mohidul was in Majid Sarani area, Suman, Sagar and Ashik attacked him with knives, but they did not intend to kill him, said the IO, quoting the court statements.
After the attack, Mohidul died while he was being taken to a hospital, said police.
“A raid is underway to arrest the other two accused,” he added.
