Tree fair concludes in Ctg
A 17-day tree fair, which drew huge response from nature lovers, concluded at Laldighi ground in the port city yesterday.
The fair was organised by Chattogram forest division, starting July 13. There were 53 stalls displaying different types of plants.
The concluding ceremony of the fair was attended by Md Elias Hossen, deputy secretary of Chattogram District Administration, and Baktiar Nur Siddiqui, divisional forest officer (Chattogram south).
Elias Hossen in his speech as chief guest, highlighted the need for planting more trees in order to fight climate change.
He also urged the forest department to accelerate their activities in this regard.
At least 3.3 lakh saplings worth Tk 1.63 crore were sold at the fair.
The Department of Forests and Department of Agricultural Extension have also organised divisional-level tree fairs in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet this year.
