Six people were killed and at least four were injured in separate road accidents across the country over the last two days, report our correspondents.
In Naogaon, at least three people were killed and three injured after a truck crushed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Ferryghaat Bridge area of Manda upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased are Rafiqul Islam (38), Jaynal Abedin (35), and Ashraful Islam (29). All three were representatives of Acme Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Police said the incident occurred around 9am. Rafiqul and Jaynal died on the spot while Ashraful died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
The injured were being treated at the hospital.
A case was filed with the police station in this regard.
In Rangpur, a toddler was killed after a battery-run three-wheeler hit him in Kaunia upazila on Sunday evening.
The victim was two-and-a-half-year-old Ismail of New Kazipara village under the upazila.
According to locals, the boy was walking behind his mother as she went out grocery shopping. Suddenly, the speeding vehicle hit him, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to RMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries around 9pm.
However, police couldn't detain the driver, who drove off with his vehicle following the accident.
Meanwhile in Gopalganj, a person was killed and one was injured at Bagjata area under Kashiani upazila on Sunday evening, reports our Faridpur correspondent.
Victim Shahjahan Mia (48) hailed from Sohosrail village under Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district.
Aminur Rahman, sub-inspector of Kashiani Police Station, said, "The accident took place after a motorbike hit a rickshaw-van. This killed rickshaw-van driver Shahjahan on the spot and left the biker injured."
The motorbiker was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, he added.
In Cumilla, an entrepreneur died in another accident at Companygonj bus terminal in Muradnagat upazila yesterday evening.
The accident occurred as a bus of Janata Paribohon hit a rickshaw from the back, pushing passenger Jashim Uddin (35) off the rickshaw and under the wheels of the bus.
Critically injured, he was taken to a local hospital in Debidwar, where doctors declared him dead, Abdur Rab, in-charge of Mirpur Highway Police Outpost said.
Police have seized the vehicle but the driver managed to flee the scene, he added.
