TigerIT creates local ventilator prototype

TigerIT Bangladesh Ltd has succeeded in making a prototype for a low-cost ventilator, constructed entirely using locally-sourced materials, said a press release.  

The prototype is a mechanical non-invasive ventilator, like those used throughout healthcare institutions.

Since the ventilator can be wholly manufactured locally, the production cost will be affordable: making one such ventilator will cost Tk 15,000-20,000.

The design will be sent to authorities concerned for approval. If approved, TigerIT will donate 500 ventilators and will produce more, as needed. The organisation will also share the design, free of cost, with those interested in manufacturing the machines.
