Three killed in road accidents
Three persons, including a child, were killed in separate road accidents across the country yesterday.
Eight-year-old Shahanaj Khatun was killed after being hit by a brick-loaded trolley on Raniganj-Choumohani road under Chilmari upazila of Kurigram, reports our correspondent.
She was daughter of Saiful Islam, resident of Sardarpara area in Thanahat union under the same upazila, said Manjurul Islam, chairman of Raniganj union parishad.
The accident took place around 9am, when the victim along with her mother was going to the nearby Shahopara village, Manjurul said, adding that the child's mother was seriously injured in the accident.
The trolley driver managed to flee and no case has been filed in this regard, said Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chilmari Police Station.
In another incident, truck helper Chunnu Mia, 35, was killed in a head-on collision between two trucks on Dinajpur-Bogura under Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur yesterday, police said.
In Chapainawabganj, Muslemuddin, 65, was killed and another injured at Boro Dadpur village under Gomostapur upazila, reports our correspondent.
Around 8:30am, a bus hit a rickshaw-van and Muslemuddin, the passenger of the rickshaw-van, died on the spot, said Jasimuddin, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station.
Injured rickshaw-van puller Rabiul Islam was admitted to Rajsahahi Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
