Three JMB men remanded
A Dhaka court yesterday placed three JMB members on three-day remands each, in connection with a case filed with Shahjahanpur Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order after police produced them before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
The arrestees are Abdul Hakim alias Nurul Hakim, regional commander of JMB in Cox's Bazar; Md Noman alias Noman Mistree, Askari (operational wing of JMB) commander of Chattogram region, and Shafiul Azam alias Kalu, Askari member, according to law enforcers.
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the trio on Wednesday, who they claim are mainstream JMB members who were “motivating and providing training to Rohingya refugees”.
The CTTC unit recovered 30 commando knives, one double-edged knife, one machete, 30 improvised explosive device (IED) containers and over a kilogram of explosives from the arrestees' possession.
