Textile mill warehouse burned in fire at Tongi

A fire broke that broke out at the Olympia Textile Mills Limited in Tongi of Gazipur has burned down four warehouses.

The fire started around 9:00pm yesterday and was brought under control around 4:00am today, reports our Gazipur correspondent.

A total of seven firefighting units of Tongi, Uttara, Dhaka Zone worked to douse the fire. Three locals were injured while trying to put it out as well.

The cause of the fire and the exact amount of damage were not immediately determined.

The fire might have started from cigarettes or mosquito coil. It burned down all the goods in the warehouse to ashes. The fire has caused about Tk 5 crore worth of damage, saidd Sabuj, a warehouse owner.

"Seven firefighting units brought the fire under control around 4 am today. A warehouse shed collapsed in the fire. Although the fire was brought under control, the flames were still burning inside the warehouse," said Tongi Fire Service Station Officer Iqbal Hossain.
