Teenage girl goes missing; family suspects kidnapping
A teenage girl went missing while crossing the road with her mother at Mawna Chowrasta area in Sreepur on Friday.
The girl, identified as Sinthia Akhter Bonna, 17, is a student of a local madrasa.
Her family claimed it was an incident of kidnapping, and filed a case in this connection with Sreepur Police Station -- accusing one Shourav, his parents and a friend, said Liakot Ali, officer-in-charge of the police station.
“Coming down from a bus, we were crossing the road while my daughter was just a few yards away. Within the blink of an eye, I could not find her anymore,” the mother, Rahima Begum, said.
She added that she saw two microbuses, parked nearby, that started heading towards Dhaka.
The girl is youngest among four siblings. The mother said, her two daughters were married off in Purbapara area in the same village where the girl visited six months back.
“Since then, a local youth named Shourav started harassing her,” Rahima said.
The family moved her to Joydevpur area at her grandmother’s home. The family suspects that Shourav was behind the abduction, she added.
Sreepur OC Liakot Ali said they were searching for the missing girl.
