Successful candidates demand recruitment
Candidates passing tests in 2013 for third and fourth class posts in health department in 9 districts yesterday organised a human chain and sit-in programme to demand their immediate appointment.
A total of 192 candidates organised the programme in front of the office of Mymensingh Civil Surgeon.
Later, the organisers submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through the civil surgeon, seeking her attention in this regard.
They said after passing written tests in April, 2013, they had appeared for viva or oral examinations in August the same year in Dhaka. The advertisement for the jobs was published in Bangla daily Ittefaq in November, 2012.
Even though the final results of the tests were published in August of 2013, no steps were taken confirming their appointments, the successful candidates said.
The tests were taken for vacant posts in Mymensingh, Noakhali, Narayanganj, Faridpur, Naogaon, Narail, Jashore, Satkhira and Barishal.
A jobseeker said, “Many of us have already crossed the age limit for government jobs and we are very much frustrated now.”
Mymensingh Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Abdur Rob told this correspondent that the recruitment process was delayed due to the cancellation of all appointments in 2014 and also due to a writ petition filed with the High Court by the job seekers.
“The matter has been settled recently as the court ordered to complete the appointment process soon. The health ministry has already issued necessary directives to the health department and the process will start soon,” he added.
