Student stabbed inside classroom in Ctg

A student was beaten and stabbed inside the classroom of a college in the port city’s GEC area yesterday.

The injured, Md Akib, a second-year BCom student of Omar Gani MES College, was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after the incident.

Police detained two youths from the college campus after some students caught and handed them over, said police sources.

The incident took place on the third floor of the business studies building around 2pm, said officer-in-charge (OC) Pranab Chowdhury of Khulshi Police Station.  

BBA student Md Omar, a witness, said Akib was filling a form for his younger brother when a group of five to six youths entered the room and started beating him.

At one point, they stabbed him in the back. Then he ran out of the building and started shouting for help, said Omar.

OC Pranab said the reason behind the incident could not be known immediately, but police are investigating the matter.
