Strike if VC does not resign by today: JU protestors
A faction of teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday continued their protest against Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, criticising her “role in corruption”.
According to their ultimatum which they placed on September 18, if the VC does not resign by today, demonstrators will go on strike, they said yesterday.
Amid rain, protesters under the banner of “Jahangirnagar Against Corruption”, holding black flags stood in front of the Central Shaheed Minar around 1pm, which lasted for nearly 30 minutes.
Protesters on September 18 declared the VC persona non grata during the ongoing admission test of 2019-20 session, which was scheduled to be held from September 22 to October 1.
“Along with her resignation, we demand punishment for the VC following investigation,” said Prof Mirza Taslima Sultana, teacher of anthropology department.
